Although you might love the shiny, modern look of your stainless steel appliances, there is one part that you probably don't like -- trying to keep your appliances clean and free of fingerprints. Even though fingerprints can appear on stainless steel very easily, there are a few things that you can do to help prevent them. 1. Wax Your Appliances

One of the best ways to prevent fingerprints from appearing on your stainless steel appliances is to wax them. You can use car wax, or you can use a furniture polish or your favorite type of oil, such as olive oil. Rub a small amount of wax, polish or oil all over your appliances, then rub it in with a clean microfiber cloth. It is going to take quite a bit of rubbing to get the wax, polish or oil to really soak into the grain, but after you are finished, you are sure to notice that your appliances have a beautiful shine. Plus, they will be less likely to pick up fingerprints.

2. Keep a Dry Cloth on the Counter

If you keep a dry microfiber or dishcloth on the counter, you can use it to quickly wipe oil off of your fingers before handling your appliances. You can also hang a dish towel from the handle on your refrigerator, which makes it easy for you to wipe away fingerprints before opening the refrigerator door. The dry cloth can also be used to quickly wipe away fingerprints as soon as they appear; if you do so, it'll be easier to get rid of them.

3. Clean Your Appliances Regularly

Make it a habit to clean your appliances on a daily basis with a bottle of window cleaner or a cleaner that you make from vinegar and water. By wiping down your appliances as a part of your daily cleaning routine, you can help get rid of fingerprints before they become set in and more difficult to clean.

Stainless steel appliances might be beautiful, but smudgy fingerprints can make them a lot less attractive. Luckily, if you follow these three tips, you are sure to notice that your appliances look a whole lot better. Plus, you'll save a lot of time on scrubbing your appliances as well.
